About Us
Phil, Susan and AllTrails
AllTrails began taking tours in 1997 and is run by owner-operators Phil and Susan McDonald. During those years Phil, Susan and the AllTrails team have earned a top reputation in the bicycle tour industry and built up a loyal community of AllTrails 'regulars' through a mix of great organisation, genuine care for the rider experience, attention to detail, tour leaders and staff with personality and responsibility, and just down-right hard work.
From the ‘Back of Bourke’ to Bourke Street Melbourne, The Grampians to Daylesford, Mt Kosciuszko to St Kilda, Simpson Desert & Flinders Ranges – AllTrails lead the way and the ride community followed, sharing wonderful times together. AllTrails have baked cookies & muffins for riders from Adelaide to Melbourne, Melbourne to Sydney, Brisbane to Sydney, Perth to Adelaide and right around Tasmania. They have organised beautiful resort hotels and outback bush camps under magical night skies for cyclists from Brisbane to Cairns, Cairns to Cape York, Adelaide to Alice Springs, Alice to Darwin and Darwin to Broome. Phil & Susan have gone west & east, given cyclists the opportunity to stand at the highest peak on the continent and propel themselves right through the middle of the country. They lead tours to the Southern reaches of Tasmania and to the tip of Cape York.
AllTrails are proud of the reputation that they have built since 1997, providing cyclists care and personal attention beyond expectation. They love cycling and are passionate about providing rides packed with adventure, memorable touring experiences and social enjoyment. Some great friendships have been formed along the way and strong business relationships ensure that hotels and restaurants give AllTrails groups their red carpet treatment.
AlllTrails invite you to come along and enjoy the freedom of cycling, riding at your own pace and connecting with the people around you and look forward to seeing you soon on a legendary AllTrails ride and joining the AllTrails ride community.

The AllTrails Team
Ben Weigl has recently joined the team as our Tour Manager and has spent the last 5 years extensively running cycle tours internationally and in almost every corner of Australia, both on road and off road. He is a specialist in remote outback cycle tours and will be joining us on our rides sharing his wealth of experience and running some of our future tours.
Midge and Dan run the office when the rest of the team are 'on tour' and are instrumental in the marketing and admin side of the AllTrails operation. Midge's background is in corporate travel and internet marketing, while Daniel brings 10 years international experience within Government, Land and Aerospace - as a Design & Development Manager for a leading British Engineering and Technology organisation, holding qualifications in multi-media, design and engineering.

Our own Guinness World Records
Phil is himself an experienced long distance rider. He rode in the first Simpson Desert Bicycle Challenge in 1987, finishing 3rd at the Birdsville Pub. After restoring an original penny farthing and mastering the tricky riding technique, he gained an entry in the Guinness Book of Records in 1986 when he rode 512 km, the longest distance covered on a penny farthing in 24 hours. Two years later, Phil's 15,000 km ride around the coast of mainland Australia and Tasmania (also on a penny farthing) raised over $100,000 for Rotary, and at the same time achieved another entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
Charities
AllTrails Bicycle Tours and the AllTrails ride community have also raised over $150,000 for Teen Challenge, over $165,000 for the Fred Hollows Foundation, and over $100,000 for MS Australia’s ‘Riding for Wheels’ program.
