What was said about last year's package (see the 'Gallery' tab for photos):
This was my second ride with AllTrails and both have been terrific. My fellow riders were, again, a great group of diverse characters. However, special mention should be made of Ben (tour leader). As I’m sure you’ve heard already, from this and other rides he’s taken, he was outstanding as our APPAP leader. The masseur, Murray, also did a great job. Thanks again for a great ride experience made all the more special (and comfortable!) by AllTrails! Craig E (QLD) Cycle Queensland Accom Pkg 2011
Thanks to all at Alltrails, Ben was just so helpful from the time we met him, until our departure. The photo cd is great - such a hoot! The meals were A1 and the accom was good, the best of them being the Farm Stay, also Vines Motel, and restaurant Annas - food to die for. Best wishes to the gang. Marj & Mike - Cycle Queensland Accom Pkg 2011
Dear Ben, You were an excellent guide for the trip and everything went according to schedule thanks to your organization. I would be very happy to be on another trip that you were managing. I received the CD on the weekend of the photos you took on the ride. Thank you very much for the time, effort and trouble to put them together. You are an excellent photographer and as I took no photos, your CD is my only photographic memento. Thank you very much for that. Brian (QLD), Cycle Queensland Accom Pkg 2011
Thank you for a most enjoyable trip from Goondiwindi to Brisbane. We had a marvellous time and can’t speak too highly of you, Ben, for your care and attention to every detail to make the trip memorable for us – and our bikes. We’ll see you again, I’m sure. Cathy & Tony (NSW), Cycle Queensland Accom Pkg 2011
****************************
Pedal away from the every day - 8 day cycling holiday in Queensland. The Cycle Queensland Bike Ride provides a cycling itinerary through citrus fruit groves and along some of Queensland's most spectacular coastline, and gives you the chance to meet some of Hervey Bay's world famous whales. Combine this with our luxury support and accommodation package of massage, friendships and comfy beds and you've got the recipe for an unforgettable week of riding.
About Us: Our package (previously known as the Pheels Phantastic package) has been operating successfully since 2004 and our cyclists say that they are getting better every year. These accommodation packages run alongside the annual State Cycling Bodies' large participation rides such as the Great Vic Bike Ride and Cycle Queensland Ride. On these cycling holidays there could be anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand riders who camp every night over the week. For those that do not want to camp and carry their luggage, we organise a luxury support and accom package that becomes a 'ride within a ride' and it won't take long for you to mix in with a great group of people to enjoy your week with.
Our Relationship with Bicycle Queensland: We are proud of our history in partnering with Bicycle Queensland on this Cycle Queensland ride and we are pleased to be the official provider of the 'luxury support and accom package' option where we source some great accommodation close to the campsites (where possible) and provide a nice comfy bed, luggage transfer, massage therapist and bike mechanic to make your ride that extra bit easier and enjoyable.
Cycle Queensland 2012: Bicycle Queensland have again picked out a great route in Queensland for their annual ride in 2012. Start off in beautiful Gayndah and head towards the coast through Biggenden to Maryborough, the self-styled Heritage City of Queensland. Next stop is your rest day town of Hervey Bay, which has often been called the jewel in Queensland’s crown. It is also referred to as the Whale Watch Capital of the World and the gateway to Fraser Island. Turn south and head down to Noosa for the last stretch of the ride. What a way to pedal away from the everyday (see 'day to day' tab for more details on the route).
You will find all levels of riding ability on this one from experienced riders, to the part-timers, to the first-timers, to the families and everything in between. If this sounds like you then check out the Bicycle Queensland website here and, of course, if you prefer to recover with a massage and a nice comfy bed each night, rather than pitching a tent and dealing with the elements, then that is where we step in...
We have been able to source some great accommodation in and around the tour towns for our Luxury Support and Accom Package. We carry your luggage door to door, arrange the motels, transport you back to the BQ campsite for evening meals and entertainment, massage those legs and keep your bike rolling. We are here to make your week as easy and enjoyable as possible.
So make your booking for our Cycle Queensland Luxury Support and Accom Package now via the 'BOOK YOUR PLACE TODAY' button above. Note that you also need to book separately for the CQ ride on the Bicycle Queensland site here.
"Support and Accommodation Package for the Cycle Queensland Bike Ride"
We transfer your luggage daily to pre-booked accommodation for the whole week. Relax upon arrival, enjoy afternoon tea and the services of our massage therapist or bike mechanic, all part of this luxury package. Our bus will take you to and from dinner at the CQ campsite, or if you wish lash out in style, shout yourself to a meal at the motel or local restaurant. Oh and don't forget the big breakfast before you push on the next day.
Meal and accommodation inclusions noted as B, L, D, A (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Accommodation)
GAYNDAH Friday, 7th September 2012
For those arriving in Gayndah a day early we can arrange a night of pre-accommodation before the tour. If you are arriving in Gayndah on the Friday you will register with us in the afternoon and meet the AllTrails Team and some of the other riders. We will also have our bike mechanic on hand to assist in unpacking your bikes out of their boxes and tuning them up so they are running smoothly. An optional group dinner will be available tonight at our motel (at cyclists own expense).
GAYNDAH to GAYNDAH, 56km Saturday, 8th September 2012
A
For those that stayed in our pre-tour accommodation last night, you will get a good breakfast in before heading down to the Bicycle Queensland (BQ) site to start the ride. For those arriving in Gayndah this morning, we will greet you with your registration pack at the BQ site and our bike mechanic will be able to help you unpack and assemble your bike if required. You can then head off on day one!
Today's ride is a spectacular loop back to Gayndah. Beginning in the main street with the locals waving you off as you breathe in the sweet smell of citrus trees. There are a couple of fairly steep climbs however your legs will be nice and fresh and the downhills are amazing (make sure your brakes are in good working order!). On your return we will have afternoon tea ready for you at the motel where you can sit back and relax. Our bus will be taking transfers back to the BQ site for your dinner if you wish to head back to the campsite - or you may wish to source your own dinner at a local restaurant either on your own or with some of the other AllTrails riders.
GAYNDAH to BIGGENDEN, 65 or 113km Sunday, 9th September 2012
B A
Start with a big breakfast at your accommodation then leave your luggage at reception before starting the day's ride. Today is a nice gentle cruise along dead-flat quiet country roads with the spectacular Craggy Blue Mountain ranges as a backdrop. For those keen for more of a challenge take the long route option along the ‘road to paradise’ – sounds nice doesn’t it. It's a pretty flat ride with one minor hill. After your ride you will end up in Biggenden which is a small town with no large motels. We will be staying at a few locations here in the town (all very close together). Our massage therapists will be available for any running repairs as will our bike mechanic.
Our bus will be taking transfers back to the BQ site for your dinner if you wish to head back to the campsite - or you may wish to source your own dinner at a local restaurant.
BIGGENDEN to MARYBOROUGH, 84km Monday, 10th September 2012
B A
Start with a big breakfast at your accommodation then leave your luggage at reception before starting the day's ride. Today is an undulating ride with a long decent into Maryborough. Situated on the Mary River, Maryborough was one of Australia’s largest and busiest ports in the late 1800s. It was a bustling centre holding all the glitz and glamour of a colonial meeting place. Elegant and stately buildings were erected up and down Wharf Street and although the port closed in 1974, its history and beautifully preserved buildings remain and now form the town’s Portside District which was ranked 4th in the RACQ’s '150 must do’s in Queensland' poll. Maryborough is also where the world's most beloved story about Mary Poppins had its early beginnings. P.L. Travers, author of Mary Poppins, was born in Maryborough and the city embraces this unique connection in a number of ways - including a statue in her honour. Our massage therapists will be available for any running repairs as will our bike mechanic.
Our bus will be taking transfers back to the BQ site for your dinner if you wish to head back to the campsite - or you may wish to source your own dinner at a local restaurant.
MARYBOROUGH to HERVEY BAY, 83 or 109km Tuesday, 11th September 2012
B A
Today is the last push before the rest day. Start with a big cyclist-sized breakfast at your accommodation, leave your packed luggage at reception and head out on the day's ride with BQ. Today is a longer day with pretty flat terrain and some fairly busy roads so best to get up early, eat a healthy breaky and hit the road. Recharge your batteries and dip your toes in the water at the lunch site in Toogum before heading off again for the final approach to the jewel of Queensland’s crown - Hervey Bay.
After your ride we will have your luggage and afternoon tea ready for you at your next motel where you can sit back and relax. Our massage therapists and bike mechanic will be there for any running repairs to bikes and bodies.
Our bus will be taking transfers back to the BQ site for your dinner if you wish to head back to the campsite - or you may wish to source your own dinner at a local restaurant with new friends. Our location is close to the BQ site so you will have easy access to any BQ 'goings-on'.
HERVEY BAY (Rest Day) Wednesday, 12th September 2012
B A
Today there is as little or as much to do as you like on your rest day. Relax at the motel, get a massage, go for a bike ride, take day trip to Fraser Island, go whale watching - the options are yours.
We can transfer you back to the BQ site today if you wish. Our location is close to the BQ site so you will have easy access to any BQ 'goings-on'.
We will also be joined today by our '2-nighters' who will come in from the campsite to spend a couple of nights in a nice soft bed.
HERVEY BAY to TIARO, 79km Thursday, 13th September 2012
B A
Start with a big cyclist-sized breakfast at your accommodation, leave your packed luggage at reception and head out on the day's ride with BQ. Another great day in the saddle along flat, scenic country roads on your way south to the quiet country town of Tiaro. Your luggage and afternoon tea will be ready for you at the motel. Our massage therapists and bike mechanic will be there for any running repairs to bikes and bodies. Our bus will be taking transfers back to the BQ site for your dinner if you wish to head back to the campsite.
TIARO to GYMPIE, 95km Friday, 14th September 2012
B A
Start with breakfast at your accommodation then it's Goodbye to Tiaro. We've hit the hills! A challenging day along some undulating terrain with a few steep climbs and fast downhills. If it is too much, BQ have an extra express SAG bus waiting for you at the rest stops! At the other end, it's Hello Gympie where your luggage and afternoon tea will be ready for you at the motel. Our massage therapists and bike mechanic will be there for any running repairs to bikes and bodies. Our bus will be taking transfers back to the BQ site for your dinner if you wish to head back to the campsite.
GYMPIE to COOROY, 59 or 98km Saturday, 15th September 2012
B A
Start with a big breakfast at your accommodation, leave your packed luggage at reception and head back to the BQ site to start your day's ride. A spectacular ride with breathtaking views over the Great Sandy National Park, Tewantin State Forest and Pacific Ocean. There are a few more hills to tackle but what goes up must come down. For those looking for some extra k’s there is a long option ride out to Boreen Point on Lake Cootharaba. Today's ride ends in Cooroy which is a very small town with limited accom so some cyclists will be transferred ahead to Tewantin, a suburb of greater Noosa, where we have some lovely cabins booked for the last official night of the ride. Our massage therapists and bike mechanic will be available for any running repairs to bikes and bodies. Sit back and relax before your last day tomorrow! Head back to the campsite for dinner or source a local restaurant.
COOROY to NOOSA, 30km Sunday, 16th September 2012
B
After breakfast leave your packed luggage at reception and we will get you to the BQ site to start your day's ride. Time to say goodbye. The last day of CQ12 rolls towards Noosa via the picturesque Noosa Hinterland followed by an easy cruise along the stunning Noosa River into Noosa Heads. Invite your family to join you for the last few kms. If you are staying another night here after the ride you can leave your bags in your room in Tewantin. After your ride we will have your luggage and bike boxes at the finish line ready for your arrival.
We help you pack up your bikes into your boxes where required and get you ready to go home. For those staying an extra night we will take you back to our accom in Tewantin which is just a short drive or ride from Noosa.
Congratulations...see you next year!

A Ride within a Ride
One of the great things about our package is that you become part of a small group cycle-tour within the larger ride. So you get all the benefits of being part of the big event, but you are still part of an intimate group and you get to know a small handful of like-minded people. Many of our riders have made friends for life on these rides.
Masseurs, Mechanic and forget about your luggage
On our Luxury Support and Accommodation Packages we take the hassle out of your bike ride. We have massage therapists with us daily to help those aching muscles and a bike mechanic that will keep your machine in tip top order. Unlike the rest of the cyclists on the ride who throw their bags into a cattle truck for transport every day, we carry your luggage personally between each of your accommodations so you don't need to worry about it.
Value
Our tours are not bargain basement tours. We do not cut corners or take short cuts and we genuinely care for each cyclist's experience with us. We are not always the cheapest, but we consider ourselves the best in the business and we always make sure that our tours represent great value at a fair price.
Motel Accommodation - a great alternative to camping
We do everything possible to source ensuite accommodation that is up to our AllTrails standard and for most of our tours we can do this. Our city hotels are usually 3-4 star in great locations, and in smaller towns we can almost always find a great little boutique hotel with character and charm. On this year's Cycle Queensland ride we have got some great places to stay that are handy to the BQ campsite location, handy to local townships, and are bike friendly. There are a few remote locations with very limited accommodation so we will not all be staying at the same motel, but in all cases we are no more than a short bus ride away from the BQ campsite. If ever the accommodation is of a lower standard than we would like to provide you can be assured that it is the best place that we can find in that locations, and over the week of the ride we always do our best to balance out the good with the great and the odd no-so-great accommodation so you will always get a good overall experience. In any case, the alternative is camping in a field with thousands of others so even the odd lower standard room is usually gratefully accepted by our AllTrails package cyclists! Our repeat clients take up around 75% of our places on these tours so we must be doing something right!
Question not answered below?
Feel free to contact us at any time through our website ‘Contact Us’ page, phone or email. We love what we do and want to get you on the best bike ride for you. Speak to us about what's on your mind and we'll help you make your decision.
How and when can I book?
Right here, right now. Go to our 'Pricing' tab and click the 'Book Your Place Today' button, or call us in the office on +61 3 9645 3355 or email alltrails@alltrails.com.au for more information.
Book Early
Accommodation is very limited in most towns, so to avoid disappointment we suggest you book early.
Luggage delivery
Your luggage will be delivered from your previous night’s motel, to your allocated motel. It will be left in the foyer or safe storage area. For 2 day package cyclists your luggage will be taken from the motel and placed on truck number 1 after your stay with us, for your pick up at day’s end.
Massage Therapist?
The massage therapist is complimentary and will be available each afternoon. To be fair to everyone, we have limited the massage time to ten minutes for each person. In some towns where we are using three or four motels, the massage therapist will usually be at the motel where the most cyclists are accommodated. Massage locations will be listed in your ride guide and booking is not required. We try to allow everyone 3 or 4 massages sometimes more. Names will be ticked off, but please speak up if you are somehow missing out.
What does the bike mechanic provide?
A bike mechanic will be part of our crew and is there to help you with minor adjustments and servicing of your bike and will have a good stand pump for different valves. We will have limited parts available for replacement which will be charged at shop prices. Labour is free for the first fifteen minutes, there after costs may be incurred at the mechanic's discretion. Cyclists with rare or different bikes are asked to contact us at AllTrails and advise our mechanic.
Evening Meals
Evening meal may be at BQ campsite, your motel, local restaurant, hotel or wherever. If you wish, our bus will pick up motel cyclists at 5pm & 6pm, take them to BQ campsite for dinner and return to motel at 8pm. These times are for motel within 20km radius. Special times will be arranged for motels that may be further out.
What is the Accommodation like?
We always try to obtain great accommodation in the best location for you to rest your weary head (and legs) in each town whether it be a motel, hotel, cabins or similar, usually 3, 3½, 4 star. We choose the best and most welcoming motel for cyclists and our tour group needs. On occasion we travel through some very small towns and villages where accommodation is extremely limited where we book the best possible accommodation options. Accommodation is in same town as the main ride campsite, otherwise in the nearest town where accommodation is available.
If for whatever reason, such as limited options, the accommodation one night is below normal standard, we strive to improve this with an extra good room the next night or nights following.
Sharing rooms – how does it work?
On the online entry form you can nominate any travelling companions that you would like to share a room with and/or be accommodated close to so that couples or friends can be roomed together. This can be in a double bed or in twin beds. If you are travelling alone like many of our riders, you can choose to 'twin share' where single riders are paired with other riders of the same gender and sometimes changed at each accommodation to create interest in sharing rooms. Single Supplement is also available for those that would like their own room for the whole trip. If you are a chronic snorer or have other habits that may affect your fellow room-mates we suggest booking your own room.
Do I need to carry anything or is all my gear transferred?
We suggest you carry your own personal goods, like camera, wallet, perhaps rain gear if it’s threatening. We carry your main luggage to your accommodation each morning once you have departed. You will not have access to it during the day so you will need to take everything that you need for the day with you in the morning. Your luggage will be available to you once you check into your accommodation or shortly after.
When do I receive more information about the ride?
Our cyclists will be given detailed maps of overnight townships, showing your motel, HQ campsite, luggage pick up area and cyclist pick up point, directions and other finer details approximately one month before the commencement of the ride.
Getting to your Motel?
Cyclists will be given specific maps, detailing where their overnight motel is situated and how best to ride there from the finish. In the case that your accommodation is not nearby the finish you have the option to leave your bike in our AllTrails compound near front gate of the campsite. We will take you to motel, bring you back for dinner at the campsite if you wish and return you to motel then bring you back to collect your bike the next morning.
What sorts of people join our rides?
People from all parts of Australia and overseas. Ages generally range from 25 - 70 with the average age about 50 years old. Adventurous cyclists usually about 40% women & 60% men with a mix of singles, friends and couples.
Where is the rest day and what do we do?
Your rest days are designed give you a chance to recharge the batteries and give your legs a rest. Unless there is a particular reason to do so, we generally do not organise any group activity for your rest days but you are welcome to team up with other riders to explore the local area.
The rest day on the CQ ride is at the township of Hervey Bay. Relax at the motel, get a massage, go for a bike ride, take day trip to Fraser Island, go whale watching - the options are yours.
We can transfer you back to the BQ site today if you wish. Our location is close to the BQ site so you will have easy access to any BQ 'goings-on'. What a great place to spend your day off during this week-long ride.
Bike security?
If your accommodation isn’t near the day’s ride finish point, AllTrails will set up a compound with a storage rack at the main entrance gate to the camping area. Although security guards are present all night, we suggest you carry a lock as your bike is your responsibility. From the compound we will transfer you to your motel and back.
Do I need insurance to join the tour?
Yes. Either Bicycle Network Victoria membership insurance, Cycle Queensland membership insurance or similar, travel insurance, or another personal accident insurance is compulsory on our AllTrails rides. We also strongly suggest travel insurance to cover cancellation fees and lost/damaged luggage.
