AllTrails Past Ride

Mt Kosciuszko to St Kilda

They came from New Zealand and all the mainland states of Australia and met at the alpine village of Thredbo. The summiteers trudged through thick pure snow to champagne celebrations, others rode to Jindabyne and Perisher to sample the scenery.

The downhill doozy to Tom Groggin was relentless, with one rider's brakes fading, sending her off the edge to the freezing water below. A quick recovery, however a wakeup call for all in this Snowy River wilderness.

With wonderful weather, the Murray Valley was a picture. The local ladies providing tucker in serene surroundings, while guitar, campfire and frivolity prevailed.

The long routers skirted the Hume Wier, working together as two teams and loving every bit of this magnificent ride. A/Tea at the famous Beechworth Bakery and beautiful accommodation surrounded by botanical gardens was a great finish to the day.

Beechworth's rail trail took us to vineyards and Kelly country, where black masked cyclists spooked locals at Ned's Last Stand. As the cyclists rode beneath massive gums, the colour and array of birdlife was stunning, the newborn farm animals a picture.

Each day finished with briefing and dinner. The cacophony of talk and laughter was testimony to good food, good drink and a good day's riding.

Police played a part in supporting cyclists on the brief highway stretches, before the dark clouds had cyclists scurrying for home.

The last day was a fast day to morning tea, then regrouped to enjoy paths, piers and prominent passages to St Kilda.

Congratulations to a happy healthy group of friendly cyclists, who rode from the Clouds to the Crowds, with the help of a fantastic, enthusiastic crew, thank you, Laura, Peter, Peter & Frank.

Thanks to you all, we also had a great time. See you on another All Trails ride soon.
