Pheels Phantastic Swan Hill to Melb Nov Dec 2005

Swan Hill was abuzz with cyclists wining, dining and preparing for the week ahead, when an almighty clap of thunder, raging wind and torrential rain brought havoc to the town for an hour, allowing Pheels Phantastic accommodation package people to really appreciate the wonders of nature from their bedroom windows.

The steady stream of cyclists culminated at Murrabit, a campsite alive with activity and fireworks for all at the end of the 1st day.

Barham accommodation was popular, with some staying to enjoy the local fare in NSW.

Our masseurs worked constantly on aching limbs and tight muscles at the lovely Echuca motel, where cyclists enjoyed the beautiful pool and spa.

Emmylou paddle steamer allowed our riders and crew a little respite before the big day to Heathcote and the diversion to Bendigo. Our bus transfers were fun, the chatter often carrying on well after the last person disembarked.

Castlemaine was quite a way from Newstead, with lots of bus transfers. Rain was persistent on the day to Woodend, leaving some cyclists a little wet, however very glad that a warm shower, afternoon tea and true camaraderie awaited them upon arrival.

Pheels Phantastic was running smoothly, some cyclists preferring to stay at their place of accommodation and enjoying a lovely evening meal.

Kangaroos greeted us as we headed off to Whittlesea and the last overnight stay. The storage of bikes at BV entrance, with security guards close by, proved popular during the week.

What a wonderful time on the last night. A very social evening at camp, before the final k's to Heidelberg, a happy exchange of good wishes and home to our own little beds. Good days and nights and a good GVBR. The rest WAS easy!!

See you next year...
