Tassie Country Ride 2008

18th - 24th Feb 2008

What can we say... Tasmania is superb and the west of Tassie is wild and wonderful. Starting in Hobart we soon left the city behind for the quaint old-fashioned buildings and wonderful hospitality of the B&B's in Hamilton.

Derwent Bridge in the heart of the Tassie forests, with the rivers and the Power Station to marvel at. The European style downhill run into Queenstown in the glorious sunshine was breathtaking and exhilarating for all the riders.

At sleepy Strahan we were treated to a smoked salmon lunch aboard the Stormbreaker yacht, kayaking and swimming from the boat, with sails high we were soon back and joined the cast on stage for the outside play "The Ship that Never Was" then fish samplers, salad & wine all round before we tucked ourselves in to our cosy cottages on the wharf.

Rosebery Bakery, (fantastic vanilla slices) with our lunch before the wonderful meal and good night's sleep at Tullah Lakeside Chalet, the mist on the mountains reminded us we were in the true Tassie country. Cradle Mountain was spectacular and we wallowed in the luxury of the incredible all you can eat seafood & meat & everything you could imagine buffet with excellent rooms, some having saunas and outside spas at the Cradle Mountain Chateaux.

The last day ended with brilliant sunshine through wonderful farmland then along the river banks to Devonport. AllTrails Tassie Country - and what country Tassie has to offer.... we loved it, thank you for being a part of it.
