Accommodation
Reserved Room |
In some towns the accommodation is extremely limited. Motel, hotel, cabins or similar, usually 3, 3½, 4 star. |
Twin Share |
Those who enter individually will be put with another person of the same gender. Unless you specify a particular friend, we usually change your room mate each night, allowing for a wider variety of characters. |
Couples |
Couples will have their own double room. |
Multiple Share Rooms |
This is a rarity although possible if cabins only are available. These might accommodate 3 or 4 depending on size and configuration. Friends or families sometimes request these rooms. |
Accommodation Fair Deal |
If for whatever reason the accommodation one night is below normal standard, we strive to improve this with an extra good room next night or nights following. |
Breakfast |
A good hearty b/fast is provided, at your accommodation. Usually a full breakfast, sometimes a good continental breakfast. |
Book early |
Accommodation is very limited in most towns, so to avoid disappointment, we suggest you book early. The last two years Pheels Phantastic package on the BV Great Vic Bike Ride has been completely booked well in advance. |
Registration Yeppoon |
All cyclists are asked to register with Susan upon arrival at Yeppoon, either on Fri from 4 -7pm or Sat 7 - 8am at Bayview Tower or Sat morning from at BQ campsite entrance main gate when bags and people are dropped off from Brisbane bus transfer. |
Your luggage drop off area for 8 nighters & |
For the 8 nighters the 1st day at Bayview Tower or Yeppoon BQ departure point, where Pheels Phantastic will have a vehicle, then each morning after at the motel where you are staying. For the 2 nighters, on the morning of their 2 night accom package, drop luggage in the Pheels Phantastic compound just inside the main gate of the BQ campsite. This compound will be sign posted Pheels Phantastic and might contain some bikes left overnight. Our crew will be at this compound in Biloela as early as possible in the morning |
Arrival at overnight town |
Pheels Phantastic cyclists may ride directly to their motel with the intention of riding from their motel the next morning. They do not have to go to BQ’s campsite. |
Directions for motel |
Pheels Phantastic cyclists will be given specific maps, detailing where their overnight motel is situated. |
Motel in what town? |
Pheels Phantastic motels are usually in the BQ overnight town, however they may also be in a nearby town, which can be in any direction up to 40km away. |
Do I ride to nearby motel town? |
It’s your choice, the nearby town is sometimes on the way, so that’s easy. If motel is 5,10, 20 km or more further on, you may ride those extra km, however we will usually expect you to cycle from the motel the next day. We can bus you next morning however the facilities for transferring your bike will be limited. Sometimes your motel will be on next day’s route. Next day’s bonus! |
What happens if I don’t want to ride to the motel? |
Leave your bike in our Pheels Phantastic compound near front gate at BQ campsite. We will take you to motel, bring you back for BQ dinner, return you to motel then bring you back to collect your bike next morning. |
Bike Transfers to Motel |
We will have one bike trailer for limited transfer of bikes to and from motels, with the rider. We cannot carry all bikes each day because of time in packing, damage in transit and limited space. Decisions with time and space will be made on the day. |
Bike Security |
At BQ camp main gate entrance the Pheels Phantastic compound will be set up to take bikes and leave them on a bike “A” frame storage rack. We suggest you carry a lock and lock your bike. Your bike is your responsibility. This compound is right near the front gate where security guards are present all night. The difficulty if Pheels Phantastic lock all bikes is that we cannot guarantee we will be there when you collect your bike next morning. |
How do I meet the bus |
The bus and driver will be at BQ camp entrance, near BQ main gate to pick up cyclists who cannot ride to their nearby town motel. Pick up times will be 1pm and 3pm. |
Maps |
Pheels Phantastic cyclists will be given detailed maps of overnight township, showing your motel, BQ campsite, luggage pick up area and cyclist pick up point, directions and other finer details upon entry into Pheels Phantastic package. |
Luggage delivery |
Your luggage will be delivered from BQ site or drop off pick up points on previous night’s motel, to your allocated motel. It will be left in foyer or safe storage area. For cyclists changing from accommodation to camping, your luggage will be taken from motel and placed on truck number 1, for your pick up at day’s end. |
Booking into motel |
Upon arrival at motel, report to reception desk and they will advise you of your room number & give you your key. Return key to reception when going out, allowing your room mate to enter unit. |
Bike Mechanic |
A bike mechanic will be part of our crew and will have everything that is required (we hope) including a good car pump for different valves. The bike parts used for replacement will be charged at shop prices. Labour is free. Cyclists with rare or different bikes are asked to contact us at AllTrails and advise our mechanic. 03 9645 3355 |
|
|
Massage Therapists |
The massage therapist will be available each afternoon and to be fair to everyone, we have limited massage time to ten minutes each person. In some towns where we are using three or four motels, the massage therapist will usually be at the biggest motel. Booking is not required. We will try to allow everyone 3 or 4 massages sometimes more. Names will be ticked off but please speak up if you are somehow missing out. |
|
|
Evening Meal |
Evening meal may be at BQ campsite, your motel, local restaurant, hotel or wherever. If you wish, Pheels Phantastic bus will pick up motel cyclists at 5pm & 6pm, take them to BQ campsite for dinner and return to motel at 8pm. These times are for motel within 20km radius. Special times will be arranged for motels further out. |
|
