GREAT South WEST WALK 2026

The Great South West Walk (GSWW) is a 262km walking trail located in the beautiful south west corner of Victoria, Australia. The first 200km of the GSWW was created by Portland High School staff, students, and their families on public land in 1980-1982. The Friends of the GSWW was formed in 1983, subsequently expanding the walk to a 262km circuit. This dedicated group of volunteers have maintained this walking trail ever since – a truly amazing community achievement.

After multiple successful tours along the Great Ocean Walk, AllTrails will be taking their inaugural tour around the GSWW circuit in 2026 in two distinct stages; the first stage is based at the Portland (Eastern) end of the circuit and the second stage is based at the Nelson (Western) end. Walkers can do a single stage or both. Over the 15 walking days there are no missing sections, the daily distances are manageable, and you walk at your own pace - no group marches here! Each day you will enjoy the track’s cliffs, forests, beaches and rivers, then rejuvenate nightly with a little luxury, and a lot of fun!
