PLACES WE GO - BEECHWORTH

We go to some amazing places on our tours around the country. We have been to Beechworth many times over the years and will be heading back there again on the Colonial Country Towns Cycle Tour in March 2026.

Here’s a bit about why we love Beechworth. If it sounds good, take a look at our tour details here:

Beechworth's commercial centre is made up of a series of elegant buildings and historic shop-fronts dating back to the 19th century. The post office was built in 1869, the former Bank of Victoria built in 1857.

There are several historic hotels and churches located in the town centre and Historic and Cultural Precinct, including the town's old court house, telegraph station, town hall, a museum, and a dark cell that once held bushranger Ned Kelly.

Besides the historic buildings, Beechworth’s surrounds are blessed with plenty of natural beauty as well with streets lined with deciduous trees which explode with bright reds, yellows and oranges in the autumn, making it a popular place at that time of year for visitors. Lake Sambell is just out of town and popular for water and boating activities, and with its location at the foot hills of the Victorian Alps, there are a number of surrounding vineyards and and scenic drives through the countryside to enjoy.

Add to this some great food and drink options and plenty of accommodation and you have the recipe for an excellent stopover for a bike tour. We love heading down to Bridge Road Brewery for some top quality down-to-earth eats & beers, or sometimes we might go fancy with a degustation experience at Provenance. Beechworth has it all.

Whether you come to Beechworth with us on an AllTrails bike tour or do it yourself - Beechworth has plenty to offer.
