Spring Touring Season Is Here — Here's What's on the Calendar
October is when the AllTrails year shifts gear. The cooler-months are behind us and the spring program is lining up. It's a good stretch of the calendar — some of our favourite tours run in this window, and the conditions in Victoria and New South Wales at this time of year are hard to beat.
Here's what's coming up.
Great Ocean Road — Cycling
The Great Ocean Road tour is one we've been running for a long time, and it doesn't get old. Riding east with the Southern Ocean on your right and the Otways on your left, through the Bellarine and onto the Mornington Peninsula — it's a classic Victorian touring route that holds up every time. Spring is a particularly good time to be on it.
Great Ocean Walk — Walking
The walking version of the region covers different ground — the Great Ocean Walk heads west from Apollo Bay, taking in the Shipwreck Coast and the Twelve Apostles on foot. It's a proper multi-day walk with some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the country. A very different experience to the cycling tour, and equally good.
High Country Rail Trails
This one has sold out — which tells you something about how it's been received. The High Country rail trails through Victoria's northeast make for relaxed, scenic riding with hardly a car in sight. We have a waitlist running if you'd like to be considered for any last minute availability.
Mudgee and the Central West
Into New South Wales for this one — the Mudgee region and the Central West Cycle Trail. Good roads, wine country, and a part of Australia that cycling tourists don't always find their way to. Well worth the detour.
Great Vic Bike Ride PACKAGE
The GVBR rounds out the spring season. AllTrails has been running the accommodation package for the Great Vic Bike Ride for many years — it's a Bicycle Network event, and our role is making sure the logistics are sorted so riders can focus on the riding. If the GVBR is on your radar this year, details are on the website.
