Come and explore one of Australia’s best kept secrets!

The Great South West Walk (GSWW) is a 262km walking trail located in the beautiful south west corner of Victoria, and one of its best kept secrets. The first 200km of the GSWW was created by Portland High School staff, students, and their families on public land in 1980-1982. The Friends of the GSWW was formed in 1983, subsequently expanding the walk to a 262km circuit. This dedicated group of volunteers have maintained this walking trail ever since – a truly amazing community achievement.

While the idea of walking appeals to many, the idea of camping every night – not so much. AllTrails are here to solve that problem by providing a fully supported and ensuite-accommodated tour so you can walk the track by day and relax in comfort by night. Leave all of the logistical headaches to us – we organise everything that you will need including morning tea and lunch stops set up for you along the route, quality evening dinners, first-aid qualified guides, safety briefings, vehicle support, luggage transfer, great camaraderie and of course a quality place to lay your head (and weary legs) in the evening.

This tour will cover the GSWW circuit in two distinct stages; the first stage is based at the Portland (Eastern) end of the circuit and the second stage is based at the Nelson (Western) end. Walkers can do a single stage or both. Over the 15 walking days there are no missing sections, the daily distances are manageable, and you walk at your own pace - no group marches here! Each day you will enjoy the track’s cliffs, forests, beaches and rivers, then rejuvenate nightly with a little luxury, and a lot of fun!

This is why walking with AllTrails is the best step you’ll take…

  • At an average of 17km/day with shorter options available, our distances are achievable and enjoyable.

  • Take your time to soak it all in. There’s no whip cracking here!

  • Full trail circuit with no missing sections.

  • We provide superior ensuite accommodation. No communal group lodges or shared bathroom facilities.

  • We provide restaurant dinners - There are no “crew cooked” meals.

  • Pack-free walking with trail snacks and refreshments provided.

AllTrails has been taking groups for multi-day tours around Australia for over 25 years. Join us as we apply the winning AllTrails formula to this emerging walking track that won’t be a secret for much longer…
